and now getting to the "tail end" of a simple mystery-
the rat creature that can't be trapped and can't be poisoned with dogs in the house is either:
-a plain old wood rat - seen it in the kitchen and bathroom-tried glue traps, caught and threw out at least four of them one night. . .so tried to trap them in a closet, trapped the little dog instead :) but still see at least one rat, usually in the kitchen-it doesn't chew into bread, cereal and other stuff like most rats do
-a pet flying squirrel that got out of its cage while I was gone (years ago)
or
-a hurt flying squirrel bought to me (a cat had got it so then maybe it didnt die. . . )
now the thing likes dog food best of all but the black and white puppy that was presented to me this morning didn't get out last night and leave a "rat like" mess around the turtle tanks
went to get a few acorns and hickory nuts (the flying squirrel liked those and the dogs don't eat those but there are hardly no hickory nuts or acorns out in the unraked yard :D
